FactSet has underperformed over the past year due to slowing organic growth, weaker demand from asset managers and asset owners, and prolonged client budget tightening. Concerns about AI-driven disruption, fragmented data consumption, and pressure on pricing power have raised doubts about the durability of its traditional financial data and terminal business. A cautious macroeconomic environment, longer sales cycles, and uncertainty over whether its AI investments can offset structural pressures have further weighed on the stock.
In comparison, rival S&P Global Inc. (SPGI) has lagged behind FDS Stock. SPGI stock has declined 22.6% on YTD basis and 20% over the past 52 weeks.
Due to the stock’s underperformance relative to the Nasdaq over the past year, analysts are cautious about its prospects. FDS stock has a consensus rating of “Hold” from the 19 analysts covering it, and as of writing, it is trading above the mean price target of $275.65.
