WMT Stock Alert: What to Know as Walmart Teams Up With Sam's Club

Walmart (WMT) stock is in focus on Oct. 20 after the retail behemoth announced a membership bundle connecting Walmart+ with its Sam’s Club warehouse division. Available immediately, WMT’s new package, which costs $120 annually, saves shoppers about $100 compared with purchasing both subscriptions separately.

Versus its year-to-date high, Walmart shares are down more than 10% as of this writing.

Significance of the Bundle for Walmart Stock

In its press release, the big box retailer said its existing Walmart+ subscribers can add Sam’s Club Plus for $22 more, while current Plus members can activate Walmart+ for no additional charge.

Benefits include delivery subject to minimum orders, fuel discounts, and a choice of ad-supported streaming services. Importantly, management said associated costs won’t materially affect WMT’s Q3 or full-year guidance.

For investors, the potential payoff extends beyond subscription fees. Connecting weekly grocery purchases with warehouse stock-up trips could encourage households to consolidate spending within Walmart’s businesses and make memberships harder to cancel.

In short, WMT shares opened in the green today because the launch gives Walmart another tool to compete for household spending ahead of the crucial holiday season.

What Else Makes WMT Shares Worth Owning?

Walmart’s broader digital expansion gives investors another reason to load up on its shares.

In the latest reported quarter, the company’s U.S. e-commerce sales increased 24% year-on-year, while membership fee revenue grew by double digits. Those numbers suggest WMT already has momentum in the service its new bundle is designed to strengthen.

Walmart shares have a history of gaining 3.9% on average in November — a seasonal pattern that further improves their near-term appeal.

The retailer also currently pays a dividend yield of 0.84% as of this writing, which makes it even more attractive for income-focused investors heading into 2027.

Walmart Remains Buy-Rated Among Wall Street Firms

Wall Street analysts also believe that Walmart is strongly positioned for continued gains in the months ahead.

According to Barchart, the consensus rating on WMT stock sits at “Strong Buy,” with the mean price target of about $129 indicating potential upside of about 10% from current levels.
