The Trade Desk, Inc. TTD is stepping up the rollout of Audience Unlimited as it looks to strengthen growth and improve the value advertisers derive from its platform. The initiative comes at a time when the company is facing near-term challenges. In second-quarter 2026, revenues increased 3% year over year to $715 million, while management stated that overall growth remained below its expectations amid macroeconomic pressures and execution issues.
Audience Unlimited could become an important part of Trade Desk’s efforts to boost momentum. The offering is designed to simplify how marketers discover and activate third-party data. Rather than navigating millions of audience segments and manually evaluating their potential impact, advertisers can use AI models together with their proprietary data to select relevant data more efficiently. The company has also introduced a simplified pricing structure that provides broader access to data for a subscription percentage, reducing price as a barrier to adoption.
Early results appear encouraging as Audience Unlimited moves into open beta. In one recent campaign, a global advertiser used the product to reach incremental households more efficiently. Compared with an earlier campaign, both the cost per unique household and data CPM declined more than 25%. Management believes these results demonstrate Audience Unlimited’s potential to improve advertising efficiency as the solution reaches more customers.
Audience Unlimited is still in the early stages and remains available to relatively few customers. Trade Desk believes that expanding adoption could accelerate customer activity on its platform. Together with its new measurement framework and the Zuma platform upgrade, Audience Unlimited is expected to make it easier for advertisers to connect spending with business outcomes and highlight the advantages of data-driven, decisioned buying.
The opportunity is also supported by growth in other parts of the business, including Joint Business Plans, international markets, connected TV and audio. Management believes funneling these strengths through Audience Unlimited and its measurement capabilities could accelerate Trade Desk’s growth flywheel. While near-term macro pressures persist, wider adoption of Audience Unlimited could provide an important catalyst for more durable growth over time.
Taking a Look at TTD’s Competitors
Magnite MGNI is benefiting from strong CTV and improving DV+ performance, with contribution ex-TAC boosted by broad-based growth among major media owners, rising programmatic adoption, international streaming expansion and greater use of Magnite-driven programmatic demand. Mobile in-app growth is supported by deeper DSP integrations, publisher onboarding and its SDK strategy. SpringServe remains a key differentiator, while commerce media partnerships, supply-side audience enablement and Magnite Orchestration expand monetization opportunities. AI is also improving productivity and margins. Performance is tempered by higher personnel, technology-stack and facility costs, declining managed-service revenue, tough comparisons, stubborn inflation, volatile energy prices and geopolitical uncertainty going forward.
PubMatic, Inc. PUBM is benefiting from growth in CTV, mobile app and emerging revenues, supported by advertisers, premium inventory, live sports, mediation integrations, publisher expansion and product innovation. AgenticOS, Activate and Decision Fabric are attracting new budgets, improving advertiser performance and expanding monetization. Proprietary data, AI-native infrastructure, NVIDIA collaboration and more than 300 data partners strengthen decisioning. World Cup, Prime Day and political advertising provided incremental revenue, while mid-market DSP activity and diversified ad verticals added momentum. AI-driven automation, infrastructure efficiency and disciplined operating expenses are expanding margins, though softness in food and drink, arts and entertainment and travel partly offset growth.
