KBR Wins Offshore Engineering Contract for Aramco's Marjan Field

KBR, Inc. KBR has secured an offshore engineering contract from Aramco to support facility upgrades across the Marjan field in the Arabian Gulf. The award expands KBR’s role in a major Middle Eastern energy development and builds on its longstanding project execution relationship with Aramco.

KBR Supports Marjan Field Infrastructure Upgrades

KBR will support the Marjan field upgrade by delivering engineering and execution expertise across offshore processing, gas compression and power systems. The work is expected to help maintain the field’s production capacity following recent development activity while enhancing associated gas-processing capabilities.

The project will also focus on improving the long-term performance of critical offshore assets through the integration of digital technologies, automation and power-system enhancements. KBR said the award reflects its longstanding project execution relationship with Aramco and combines its offshore engineering capabilities with digital and automation expertise.

Engineering work is expected to be carried out primarily from KBR’s Houston and Al-Khobar offices. The company has supported major energy projects across the Middle East for decades, providing engineering, technology and program-management services aimed at improving operational performance and reliability.

Middle East Momentum Supports KBR’s Sustainable Tech Business

The latest Marjan award aligns with the strong momentum KBR has been seeing across its Sustainable Technology Solutions, or STS, business in the Middle East. During the first half of 2026, the company secured more than $900 million of bookings in the region across oil, gas, natural gas liquids and energy infrastructure projects. Management has identified the Middle East as a significant growth driver, supported by both new project activity and longstanding customer relationships.

KBR’s second-quarter 2026 presentation also showed that Middle East awards spanned oil and gas infrastructure, pipelines and refinery upgrades. The company said increasing demand for technology-led solutions, repeat customers and a rising proportion of operating-expense-based contracts are improving the visibility and resilience of the STS business.

KBR stock has declined 9.6% in the past six months compared with the Zacks Engineering - R and D Services industry’s 1.1% fall. KBR faces risks from Middle East geopolitical volatility, which can affect customer payments and project timing, although operations have remained largely uninterrupted. Nonetheless, demand remains strong across oil, gas, NGL and energy infrastructure projects. Record STS backlog, a healthy pipeline and a growing mix of longer-duration contracts support revenue visibility and business resilience.
