Is Cardano Losing Its Loyalists? What One Advocate’s Exit Shows

A longtime Cardano advocate has stepped down from his governance role, citing Sui's technology and adoption as the reason. In a post on X, he said the Cardano Foundation and others “have not kept up.”

The move makes him the second well-known Cardano voice this year to shift toward Sui.

Why He Is Leaving His Cardano Governance Role

#Cardano fam, this is a tough post to put out there but in the faith of transparency and integrity a must.

I have loved my time in the Cardano community and remain a believer but I have decided in my personal best interests to step away.

He called the post “tough” but said it was necessary “in the faith of transparency and integrity.” He still holds ADA and describes himself as a believer. However, ADA is no longer his largest position.

“Things move fast and frankly @Cardano_CF and others have not kept up.”

He then compared the two networks directly. In his view, Sui's technology and adoption are “a candid contrast” to Cardano. He added: “It's not even close.”

As a result, he is stepping down as a DRep, a delegated representative who votes on governance proposals on behalf of ADA holders. He also asked his delegators to redelegate their voting power, since ADA delegated to him will no longer count in governance votes.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson replied to the post. “Thanks for your time here, and it was great to get to know you also,” he wrote.

A Second Cardano Voice Turns to Sui

The post follows a similar move by Dan Gambardello, a prominent Cardano analyst and YouTuber. In June, he moved part of his holdings from Cardano into Sui. Around the same time, he warned of a deep lack of support for the Cardano community.

Both shifts came during a difficult year for Cardano. In June, ADA fell below $0.20 for the first time since 2021. Meanwhile, ecosystem projects such as TapTools and Hosky wound down operations.

The price charts reflect the split. Over the past six months, SUI has edged higher while ADA has lost ground. Over 12 months, however, both tokens have fallen sharply.

Pressure on the Cardano Foundation Grows

The Sui comparison also lands at a sensitive moment for the Cardano Foundation. In June, the community voted down a 7.8 million ADA treasury proposal, which cancelled the Cardano Summit in Singapore. In addition, Foundation CTO Giorgio Zinetti left the organization at the end of August.

Still, a handful of high-profile departures does not prove a broader migration. For now, the shift toward Sui reflects frustration among some long-standing Cardano supporters rather than a measurable move of builders or capital. Hoskinson, for his part, has insisted that Cardano's best days are ahead. Projects such as the planned Leios scaling upgrade may decide whether the network can win back its critics.
