Wolverine's Strong Portfolio Anchors Its Improving Growth Prospects

Wolverine World Wide, Inc. WWW is benefiting from a portfolio that serves distinct consumer needs across outdoor footwear, running, lifestyle and workwear. Merrell and Saucony are strengthening their positions through product innovation and targeted consumer engagement. Alongside efforts to improve Wolverine and Sweaty Betty, these initiatives give the company a foundation to expand demand across brands, categories and markets.

The contribution from its leading brands was evident in second-quarter 2026. Merrell’s revenues climbed 11.1% year over year to $175.5 million, while Saucony recorded 9.9% growth to $158.6 million. Representing approximately two-thirds of company sales, these brands helped push Active Group revenues up 9.3% to $388.4 million. Total revenues increased 6.8% to $506.4 million, demonstrating their importance to overall growth.

Merrell’s performance reflects continued traction in its core outdoor offerings. Moab 3 and Moab Speed 2 each achieved significant double-digit growth, supported by further U.S. hiking market share gains. Saucony’s momentum spanned performance and lifestyle running, with European demand and community activations supporting expansion. A planned women’s apparel capsule developed with Sweaty Betty adds another opportunity to reach consumers.

Beyond these growth engines, results suggest broader recovery potential. Wolverine brand revenues increased 6.6% to $39.6 million, helped by stronger workwear demand and higher footwear selling prices. Sweaty Betty’s revenues declined 2.4% to $40.3 million, although management reported approximately 3% growth excluding its U.S. market reset. Work Group revenues fell 1.6%, indicating uneven portfolio improvement.

Management’s raised outlook reflects confidence in the stronger brands and ongoing execution. The company now anticipates 2026 revenues of $1.98-$2.00 billion, with Saucony expected to grow at a mid-teens rate. Adjusted operating margin is projected at 9.9%. While tariffs continue to pressure profitability, sustained brand momentum and progress in recovering businesses could strengthen Wolverine Worldwide’s growth and earnings prospects.
