My Trading Journey

April 23, 2014 was the day I made my first deposit with a broker. Back then, I knew very little about trading — and even less about trading robots.

Over the years that followed, I steadily built up my knowledge. In the early days, my main focus was the work of Paul Coghlan and the Andrews' Pitchfork methodology, but along the way I became familiar with the vast majority of trading strategies and indicators.
I've experimented with virtually every major market — Forex, futures, options, bonds, indices, and cryptocurrencies.
After purchasing several robots from online marketplaces, I came to a simple realization: none of them truly matched my needs or solved the actual challenges I faced. So I decided to build my own. In 2018, I completed my first fully functional trading robot.
My perspective has changed a great deal since those early days. I see the markets very differently now. There is no "holy grail" in trading. Martingale strategies can be exciting — and in some cases refined and optimized into something genuinely interesting — but they are not a long-term solution.
My objective today is far more realistic: developing a swarm of Expert Advisors that work together at the portfolio level.

My Background

By profession, I've spent the better part of a decade helping large, high-stakes organisations avoid costly mistakes. My career has taken me through Trust & Safety at YouTube, Quality Assurance at TikTok, KYC/AML consulting at J.P. Morgan, and my current role as QA Auditor/Validator at TELUS Digital, on assignment at Meta, working across enforcement, compliance, and multi-tier decision validation including LLMs.
The common thread across all of these roles? Building frameworks for identifying what's working, what isn't, and why — in environments where getting it wrong has real consequences. Every one of these positions has taught me skills I now apply directly to building trading robots: disciplined quality assurance, rigorous validation processes, risk assessment, policy and rule-based decision-making, and the patience to analyse enormous amounts of data before making a call. It turns out that's an exceptionally useful toolkit for designing automated trading systems.
On the financial side, I hold a Certificate in Business for Financial Services from Dublin Business School and a Diploma in Investment Operations and Compliance from Griffith College Dublin, covering financial markets, securities operations, AML frameworks, and investment ethics.

Hobbies

Beyond algorithmic trading, I'm a PADI rescue diver and a licensed drone pilot. I've walked the Camino de Santiago — completing the 120-kilometre stretch from Ponferrada to Palas de Rei, with 80 kilometres remaining to Santiago de Compostela. The pilgrimage mirrors much of what drives my work: discipline, patience, and a focus on the long journey. In 2026, I graduated as a mycologist and now run my own mushroom lab and growing operation.
I cultivate gourmet and medicinal varieties — Lion's Mane, Shiitake, King Oyster, and others — applying rigorous attention to detail and process optimization to every stage of cultivation.
