BCB Interest Rate Decision is adopted by the Monetary Policy Committee Copom. After determining the interest rate, the Central Bank purchases and sells federal government bonds on a daily basis, in order to keep the rate close to the target value. The Central Bank's interest rate is chargeable when trading securities issued by the Brazilian National Treasury. A higher than expected value is seen as positive for the Brazilian real quotes.
