WPI Food y/y is an indicator of changes in wholesale prices for the consumer basket of food and beverages in the reported month compared to the same month a year ago. The index is calculated monthly to measure food inflation.
It serves as a leading indicator of consumer inflation: changes in wholesale prices for food lead to changes in prices received by final consumers. The index growth can have a positive effect on INR quotes.
