American International Group’s Quarterly Earnings Preview: What You Need to Know

Valued at a market cap of $42.2 billion, American International Group, Inc. (AIG) is a global insurance company that provides property and casualty insurance, risk management solutions, and other insurance products to businesses and individuals worldwide. The New York-based company’s offerings include commercial property, general liability, workers’ compensation, cyber insurance, professional liability, personal accident, and auto and homeowners’ insurance.

AIG is scheduled to announce its fiscal Q3 earnings for 2026 after the market closes on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Before this event, analysts expect this insurance company to report a profit of $1.85 per share, down 15.9% from $2.20 per share in the year-ago quarter. The company has topped Wall Street’s bottom-line estimates in each of the last four quarters.

For the current fiscal year, ending in December, analysts expect AIG to report a profit of $8.07 per share, representing a 13.8% increase from $7.09 per share in fiscal 2025. Furthermore, its EPS is expected to grow 8.1% year over year to $8.72 in fiscal 2027.

AIG has declined 4.8% over the past 52 weeks, notably underperforming both the S&P 500 Index's ($SPX) 15.5% return and the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLF) 7.3% uptick over the same time period.

AIG has lagged the broader market as persistent revenue declines and sluggish growth in net premiums earned have weighed on its performance. Revenue fell at an annualized rate of 9.3% over the past five years, while net premiums earned declined by 4.7% annually over the same period, underperforming the broader insurance industry. Additionally, book value per share grew by a modest 6.4% annually over the past two years, signaling relatively slow balance-sheet expansion and contributing to investor concerns about the company’s growth prospects.

Wall Street analysts are moderately optimistic about AIG’s stock, with a "Moderate Buy" rating overall. Among 24 analysts covering the stock, six recommend "Strong Buy," two indicate “Moderate Buy,” and 16 suggest "Hold." The mean price target for AIG is $87.78, indicating an 8.7% potential upside from the current levels.
