Lumentum Just Scored a New 'Buy' Rating. Here's Why.

Lumentum (LITE) stock is pushing higher on Monday after StoneX initiated coverage with a “Buy” rating, backing the optical networking firm’s exposure to next-gen artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. In a research note this morning, analyst Cody Acree assigned a bullish $1,200 price target on LITE, implying potential upside of nearly 50% from current levels.

Lumentum shares have already been a blockbuster investment in 2026, currently trading at more than 2x their price at the start of this year.

StoneX’s Bullish View on Lumentum Stock

Acree remains positive on LITE stock due to the earlier-than-expected adoption of the company’s near packaged optics. Management now expects demand for near-packaged optics in late 2027 or early 2028, compared with its earlier estimate of late 2028 or late 2029. That brings a potential growth driver closer and strengthens the investment thesis for Lumentum, he told clients.

Importantly, the company now sees near-packaged and co-packaged optics accounting for roughly equal portions of the prospective scale-up mix. For shareholders, that simply means near-packaged optics could become a substantial commercial opportunity. In his report, Acree dubbed it “a credible deployment architecture rather than distant optionality,” supported by developments across the industry.

Why Else Are LITE Shares Attractive?

StoneX’s bullish argument also rests on the breadth of Lumentum’s potential participation. The investment firm identifies integrated continuous-wave laser, external light-source assemblies, and optical engines as products through which the company can serve emerging deployments. That gives investors several product opportunities to watch as customers develop their systems.

Acree’s note also points to expanding customer engagements, Open CPX standardization, and new 224G drivers, transimpedance amplifiers, and retimers as evidence that the supporting ecosystem is advancing.

Barchart also currently holds a “24% BUY” average opinion on Lumentum stock, signaling that technical momentum has also started turning in its favor.

What’s the Consensus Rating on Lumentum?

Other Wall Street analysts are just as bullish on LITE shares heading into 2027.

The consensus rating on Lumentum sits at “Strong Buy” as of this writing, with the mean price target of about $1,169 indicating significant upside potential from current levels.
