PPG Invests $70 Million to Expand Aerospace Operations in Huntsville

PPG Industries, Inc. PPG announced a $70 million investment to expand its aerospace transparencies operations in Huntsville, AL, as the company seeks to increase production capacity and continue growing as demand across commercial, military and general aviation markets goes up.

The investment is part of a series of multi-year projects aimed at supporting the long-term growth of PPG’s aerospace transparencies business. The expansion includes leasing and developing a new 112,000-square-foot facility to accommodate production support functions. This will free up additional manufacturing space at the existing site, improving operational efficiency and enabling future equipment investments.

The projects will strengthen PPG’s ability to meet rising customer demand for aircraft cockpit windows and passenger windows. The additional capacity is expected to position the Huntsville facility to support future business growth.

PPG has operated its aerospace transparencies manufacturing facility in Huntsville for more than 55 years. Its aerospace business supplies coatings, sealants, transparencies, engineered materials and related services to commercial, regional, general aviation and military customers worldwide. The latest investment underscores PPG’s focus on capacity expansion to capitalize on favorable aerospace demand, strengthen presence and support growth in its aerospace business.

PPG shares have gained 7.1% in the past year compared with the industry’s 3% rise in the same period.
