Our Steps to Create a Trading Bot for FTMO Success:

Brainstorming ideas, indicators, strategies, and techniques.
Selecting a concept and coding an EA (Expert Advisor) accordingly.
Thoroughly testing and fixing any bugs or issues.
Optimizing the EA to achieve positive results over a few months.
If initial results are not promising in terms of profit/risk ratio, repeat steps 1-4 until finding a promising approach.
Adding risk management features, other functionalities, and manual rules, followed by thorough testing on a demo account.
Refining and correcting all ideas, eliminating unnecessary components, and conducting further optimization.
Proving the concept on a demo account to verify its effectiveness.
Moving on to real trading and refining manual rules, such as closing positions during risky days, times, or news events.

Although it may seem more risky to start the real challenge at Step 7, I, along with a few others, have already taken the leap. The interesting part is that steps 1-5 can sometimes take weeks with numerous EAs discarded as failures, yielding zero positive results even in the test lab. However, the first cycle of tests was simply amazing! It's important to note that while back-testing provides indications, it cannot guarantee future results in trading. My goal is to continue brainstorming for more good ideas, sharing my experiences and products with you all. Some traders have even provided positive feedback on using the AI Broker version.

Trade Strategy Overview

When the price becomes overbought or oversold, we will aim for a mean reversion and enter with a reverse take profit of approximately 10 pips per position (automatically adjusted according to the mean spread). If the price does not return immediately, an additional entry is made in the grid strategy and the take profit is re-set. The lot and profit for grid entries can be changed using the input parameters. The default stop loss (4 grids) is 175 pips, which is also automatically changed according to the grid settings. Entries are carefully selected using internal logic and various filters, and are designed to ensure stable profits.

Spread filter

This filter deters entry when the spread exceeds a specified value. It is also possible to temporarily disable stop loss and take profit to deter unintended settlements due to widening spreads.

Illiquidity filter

This filter deters entry during illiquid hours (when the New York market is closed). As with the spread filter, it also disables stop loss.

News filter

This filter deters entry when there is an economic event of high importance. This filter reduces risk by avoiding sudden market fluctuations caused by events.

EA's magic number. Specify up to 6 digits, and 8 digits with 10 (buy direction) or 20 (sell direction) added at the beginning are used. Specify a value that does not overlap with other EAs.

Trading

Trading pairs [separated by ','] (empty is chart pair)

Specify the issue(s) to be traded. When specifying multiple stocks, separate them with ','. If blank, it is the issue of the chart for which the EA is set. If the issue contains a prefix or suffix, it will be automatically detected, but if the detection is not successful, specify the suffix and other information as well (e.g. AUDCAD.m).

Trading period

Specifies the period between transactions. 'Auto' to trade automatically from the appropriate time frame. 'Current period' to trade on the time frame of the chart where the EA is set.

Trading frequency

Specifies the frequency of orders (negative values are also acceptable). The number of orders will increase or decrease according to the increase or decrease of the value. Note, however, that increasing the number of orders too much will drastically reduce the win rate.

Number of symbols entry allowed at same time

Specifies the number of stocks that can be traded at the same time. By increasing this value, entry can be made even when there are positions in other issues. However, the probability of large drawdowns increases, so the risk is high.

Cross order allowed

Allows cross orders. Allows simultaneous entries for selling and buying within the same issue.

Initial entry allowed (excluding grid entry)

Initial entries are allowed. However, it does not affect grid entries. By disallowing this item, additional initial entries can be deterred and the EA can be terminated without difficulty.

Stop loss [point] (0 is auto)

Specify stop loss (in points). If 0, it is set automatically.

Take profit [point] (0 is auto)

Specifies take profit (in points). If 0, it is set automatically.

Grid Trading

Maximum number of grid lines (0 is no grid)

Maximum number of grid entries. If 0, no grid entry will be made.

Grid line distance [point]

Distance (in points) from which a grid entry will be made. An additional entry is made if the distance is greater than this distance from the previous entry. However, this is only a guideline, and entries are not always made at this distance.

Lot multiplier

Lot multiplier in grid entries. Specify if the lot is to be increased according to the number of grid entries.

Profit multiplier

Multiplier for profit in grid entries. Specify if you want to increase profit based on the number of grid entries.

Grid security allowed

Allows grid security features by straddling. It works when the price exceeds the maximum number of grids specified and reduces the decrease in equity. Note that while this may reduce the likelihood of a stopout, it does not completely prevent it.

Grid security stop loss [point] (0 is auto)

Specifies the stop loss for grid security (in points). If 0, it is set automatically.

Grid security take profit [point] (0 is auto)

Specifies the take profit of grid security (in points). If 0, it is set automatically.

Grid security trailing step [point] (0 is no trailing)

Specifies the frequency of stop loss trailing in grid security (in points). 0 means no trailing. The smaller the value, the more frequently trailing is performed, but some brokers warn against frequent stop loss changes, in which case a larger value should be set.

Filter

High spread with no entry and stop loss [point] (0 to disable)

Specifies the spread (in points) at which entry is to be stopped. 0 means disabled. If the spread is greater than the specified spread, stop loss and take profit is also temporarily disabled.

Illiquidity filter allowed

Entry is inhibited during periods of market illiquidity (one hour before and after the close of the New York market). Stop loss is also temporarily disabled.

Volatility filter lower levels (0 to disable)

Suppresses entry when volatility is low. invalid if 0. Suppresses entry when volatility is less than or equal to the specified volatility.

Volatility filter Upper levels (0 to disable)

Suppresses entry when volatility is high. invalid if 0. Suppresses entry when volatility is above the specified volatility.

Holiday filter allowed

Deter entry on holidays. No entries for the corresponding country throughout the day.

How to Install

Click here for installation instructions.(How to install). This product can be set up on one chart to trade multiple issues of AUDCAD, AUDNZD, and NZDCAD. For normal operation, it is recommended to set the product to the M15 chart with a large number of ticks, such as EURUSD. However, if you are trading a single stock, leave the 'Trading pairs' parameter blank and set it to the M15 chart of the relevant stock. In addition, this product requires viewing of an external site in order to automatically determine the time. Therefore, the URL must be set in MetaTrader. In the 'Tools -> Options -> Expert Advisers Tab', check the 'Allow WebRequest for listed URL' checkbox and set the following URL in the input field.

Production Operation

When operating, simply change the 'Lot sizing method' input parameter to 'Low risk', 'Medium risk', or 'High risk'. However, please note that high risk increases the probability of stopouts, so be aware of the risks involved. Other input parameters usually do not need to be changed (time filter time may need to be changed for some brokers). Since many of the input parameters are directly related to changes in risk, please refer to the manual to fully understand the parameters before use. I recommend a minimum balance of $500. I recommend that you first check the operation of the demo account before starting the actual operation.

Economic Calendar

An economic calendar is required to run the holiday and news filters during backtesting. For this reason, I have prepared a csv file of the economic calendar (economic calendar). Before running, please save the file 'TradingCamp-ec.csv' in the following location without changing the file name.

This folder can be found one level above the folder opened in MetaTrader by specifying 'File -> Open Data Folder'. The economic calendar is created in UTC (Universal Time Coordinated), so the broker's time difference and DST area must also be set in the parameters.

Brokers

This product operates three pairs, AUDCAD, AUDNZD, and NZDCAD. Since these are minor currencies, some brokers may not offer them and they cannot be used. Also, even if a pair is offered, the spread may be wide, and in this case, you will not be able to use it (if the average spread exceeds 3 pips, your profit will drop drastically). We are not able to specify specific brokers, so please contact each broker for this information before you consider using them.

In the indicator window draws 4 lines. Two solid lines show actual values, two dotted lines show predictions of the values of events at the time of the indicator data release.

The window also displays two color labels of the forecast lines, which show the value and time of the forecast in the future if this forecast appeared in the MT5 database. These tags help to see the patterns associated with the market forecasting the values of economic indicators (screenshot 3).

There are sometimes errors in the MT5 database due to the absence of a value for the event. In such cases, the indicator shows zero. In order not to confuse the error with the zero value of the economic event, the indicator indicates an error using the arrow of the corresponding line of the color chart (screenshot 4).

To avoid confusion as to which events are displayed in which window, the names of these events are displayed in the upper left corner (screenshot 5).

Strategy tester does not allow to use historical data, because the tester indicator will not work!!!

Setting

To display the display of the event you need in the settings, just set the country and enter its name. The name of the event should match exactly the name in the MT5 calendar in the language that is set in the terminal. You can enter the keyboard. You can go to the event page, double-click it, copy it and paste it into the indicator settings window (screenshot 6, screenshot 7).

Two indicators of each event are displayed in the indicator window: current value and forecast. You can remove one of these lines by setting Visibility of the Plot to avoid overloading the indicator with unnecessary information (screenshot 8).

Economic news is rare, so updating an indicator with every tick is a senseless load on the system. To do this, you have created the Default Update Mode setting in New bar mode. If you need to update the indicator of each tick while waiting for the news, set the setting of Every tick or New bar to True. Remember to translate back to false (screenshot 9).

There are abnormally high or low indicators in the window window, increasing the window scale, worsening the visibility of lower indicators. In this case, it is recommended to use the standard Scale tab. In this tab we limit the maximum or minimum window scale (screenshot 10).

In addition to the main model UseModel1_QLearning, the advisor has an auxiliary model UseModel2 which is trained in the usual standard way, and if you use two models simultaneously (these are the default settings), then the result of a decision to sell or buy will be made as the sum of these two models at once, which is much more accurate makes advisor predictions than using models separately.

The profitability of currency pairs can be viewed in the strategy tester after the test in the \"Journal\" tab, and unprofitable pairs can be disabled as needed in the advisor settings, or you can select the most profitable ones using the Active option. Before the test, set Active = True for all pairs and after the test, disable unprofitable pairs Active = False, and you can start trading.

By default, the most profitable 9 pairs out of 28 are selected, but you can choose more currency pairs.

Also an important point: by default, the advisor closes all currency pairs when trading and opens again if it has reached a profit of 1% of the balance, setting UseMaxAllTakeProfitProcent and MaxAllTakeProfitProcent, you need to experiment with this setting in real trading.

The advisor was trained until 2023 year, it is advisable to run the back test from 2023

Before testing, it is advisable to select the EURUSD currency pair and the H1 hour period

Also, for quick testing, you can turn off the visualization of the strategy tester.

At the end of testing, in the log tab, you can view information on the profitability and maximum drawdown of each pair separately

Description of some of the EA settings

UseSameLotSizeForAllPairs - the ability to select the lot size for each pair separately, true by default, one lot size for all specified by the parameter above
UseMaxAllTakeProfitProcent - enables the global take profit as a percentage of the current profit specified in the MaxAllTakeProfitProcent parameter, after its execution all current orders are closed. Test only on all ticks or 1 minute OHLC
UseMaxStopLossProcent - turns on the global stop loss as a percentage of the current profit specified in the MaxAllStopLossProcent parameter, after its execution, all current orders are closed. Test only on all ticks or 1 minute OHLC
IsDynamicLot - enable automatic formation of the lot size depending on the balance or free margin
is_koef_for_each - if true, then the lot size is formed from the balance for each currency pair separately, if false, then from the total balance or free margin
koef - coefficient for forming the lot size, the larger, the greater the risks
from - formation of the lot size depending on the balance or free margin
CountOfGrid - the number of pending orders in the grid
CountGridBars - the number of last bars in history from which the lowest and highest prices are found to calculate the interval between orders for the grid: MaxPrice and MinPrice

Quick start

- Set the EA on M15 chart of EURGBP (sell only), EURCHF (buy only), USDCAD (buy only), EURUSD (sell only).

- One-time risk is about 300 usd per pair for min lot. Make sure risks are comfortable for you.

- Make sure the time zone settings are correct. The defaults are valid for most brokers.

- Left the rest at their defaults, there are no sophisticated settings, and everything is ready to start seamless 24/7 trading.

Customizable trading logic

- Currency-specific intraday price actions are tracked, and depending on the nature of these actions trades are opened with an expectation of either a continuation of the price movement, or a return of the price to initial levels. User may choose whether the EA should trade short, medium or long term price actions. User can also set trading frequency to comfortable level. The EA will use best optimized settings in any selected scenario.

- The EA will smoothly open specified number of trades one by one using hard common stop-loss. Trades are closed with automatically dragged common take-profit. This makes it possible to expect constant smooth equity growth with controllable risks.

Pair selection tips

- Trade either positive swaps, or pairs with roughly equal long and short swap rates. Use Allowed Trade Direction option to trade one side only.

- Not sensitive to american news cross pairs are preferable

- Less volatile pairs are also preferable.

Backtesting tips

- The EA trades on candle closure and may be tested with \"Open prices only\" mode, which is much faster than \"Every tick\" with essentially same results. Use M15 timeframe for \"Open prices only\" mode. For \"Every tick\" tester timeframe does not matter.

- Swap may significantly impact backtest results, so it makes sense to set backtest starting date to not earlier than 2022-2023. Swap rates were very different before that time.

- The EA may open multiple same time trades, and the list of trades at certain point of time will depend on date of EA launch on live chart or starting date of the backtest.

Trade carefully

- Tester or live performance in the past does not guarantee any profitability in the future. Risk settings should not be based on backtests. Low risk trading is potentially more profitable in a long-term perspective. Do not increase defatult risks too much.

- While the EA is ready made to trade any of forex pairs, it is single chart EA, and simultaneous trading multiple pairs is quite risky.

Originally this strategy uses 25pips as SL and 70 as TP. All forex pairs, timeframe above 30 minutes (although my testing shows that lower timeframes give better results), and doubling of the TP at specific conditions after the entry. The original strategy does not employ additional filters, but we included a couple features that can be turned ON and OFF and experimented with. Some of them are:

Settings:

Lots and Risk Percentage -> Define the sizing. 0 Risk Percentage leaves the user with fixed lot size.
SL and TP -> Define these in points. You can see the average daily moves for some forex pairs and ideas for SL and TP.
Boost -> Double the TP of the long/short position after specific condition is met.
Max Positions -> The EA can open a series of positions, when it meets the criteria (use with fixed lots!). Or if set to 1 for example - hold no more than 1 long and 1 short positions (good for backtesting).
Master Timeframe -> Allows you to easily backtest many timeframes with one test. Just set isMasterTimeframe to true, and when optimizing it set masterTimeframe start to 5M and stop to 4H (for example).
Strategy entries -> 5 different entry signals, similar to one another.
Filters 1, 2, 3 -> Moving averages used to determine the trend.
Filter 4 -> CCI, used to pinpoint the entry.
Filter 5 -> Trading window.
Others -> Magic number and dashboard.

However, many ideas were suggested by ChatGPT.

These were some of its ideas:
1) usage of prices of Gold to add value to the inputs of neural models;
2) how and why to combine different strategies into one;
3) markers of day of week and day of year for the neural models to take into account weekly and seasonal factors;
4) principles of money management for trading on Forex for a private trader and a possible technical implementation.

In addition to the conceptual ideas and technical consultations, ChatGPT suggested the name and drew the picture for this expert.

Start the expert in one chart of any symbol. The expert always trades all its symbols from one chart, regardless of your current chart.

The expert trades using daily data. So you can use both \"All ticks\" or \"1 minute OHLC\". You can substaintially decrease the testing time using the latter option.

Recommendations

You might also want to choose FTSE as a support symbol for both GBPCHF and GBPUSD. You can start these 2 symbols in a separate chart using a different magic number.

Do not set the Ultimate risk for live trading. The Ultimate risk is there only to show that perfect straight-line historical charts are cheating. Set the Reliable risk for live trading.

Attention. You should name correctly the support symbols Gold, Oil, DAX, and FTSE. Otherwise, the EA will switch to the default \"Schmuksie\" indicator. The EA uses prices of Brent Crude Oil (also known as London Crude Oil) for Oil. Another name for DAX is DE40. It should be UK100 for FTSE.

Properties of the Expert

Suffix >> it can be handy for those who have symbols with different suffixes in their terminal. Most users can leave this field empty.
Support symbol 1net >> I recommend _Gold.
Support symbol 2nets >> I recommend Oil.
Risk >> Ultimate or Reliable. The Ultimate mode delivers more profitable trades in history, while the Reliable mode has the highest chance of making money in the future period. The Ultimate mode uses a neural model which has perfectly memorized the history, which can entail a higher risk in the future (uknown) period. The Reliable mode uses a neural model, for which the value of loss is similar to the loss in the future period. Therefore, the Reliable mode's profitability can be substantially higher in the future period.
Max trades per signal >> max number of trades for a similar signal. If a signal repeats, the expert keeps opening similar trades until it reaches the max number.
Close all profit (%) >> a profit target as a percentage to allow closing all trades. Set 0 to switch off. After this function triggers, new trades will be opened next week.
Resume trading on \"Close all\" >> if this is ON, the EA will start trading again the next day after hitting the \"Close all profit (%)\" target. If it's OFF (default), trading will wait until next week. Waiting usually gives better chances for new signals and fresh trades.
Max spread >> the EA won't open or close trades if the spread is higher than this.
Close negative trades >> true to close; false not to close.

🔶 USAGE

(image 1) This script allows users with an understanding of The Strat to quickly highlight elements such as candle numbers, pivot machine guns, and custom combos. The usage for these concepts is given in the sub-sections below.

🔹 Candle Numbers

(Image 2) The Strat assigns a number to individual candles, this number is determined by the current candle position relative to the precedent candle, these include:

Number 1 - Inside bar, occurs when the previous candle range engulfs the current one.
Number 2 Up - Upside Directional Bar, occurs when the current price high breaks the previous high while the current low is lower than the previous high.
Number 2 Down - Downside Directional Bar, occurs when the current price low breaks the previous low while the current high is higher than the previous low.
Number 3 - Outside bar, occurs when the current candle range engulfs the previous one.

The script can highlight the number of a candle by using labels but can also style candles by depending on the candle number. Inside bars (1) only have their candle wick highlighted, directional bars (2) (-2) only have their candle body highlighted. Outside bars have their candle range highlighted.

Note that downside directional bars are highlighted with the number -2.

Users can see the total amount of times a specific candle number is detected on the historical data on the dashboard available within the settings, as well as the number of times a candle number is detected relative to the total amount of detected candle numbers expressed as a percentage.

It is also possible to see the current candle numbers returned by multiple timeframes on the dashboard.

🔹 Searching For Custom Combo

(Image 3) Combos are made of a sequence of two or more candle numbers. These combos can highlight multiple reversals/continuation scenarios. Various common combos are documented by The Strat community.

This script allows users to search for custom combos by entering them on the Combo user setting field.

When a user combo is found, it is highlighted on the chart as a box highlighting the combo range.

🔹 Pivot Combos

(Image 4) It can be of interest to a user to display the combo associated with a pivot high/low. This script will highlight the location of pivot points on the chart and display its associated combo by default. These are based on the Pivot Combo lookback and not displayed in real-time.

Users can see on the dashboard the combos associated with a pivot high/low, these are ranked by frequency.

🔹 Pivot Machine Gun (PMG)

(Image 5) Pivot Machine Guns (PMG)s describe the scenario where a single price variation breaks the value of multiple past successive higher lows/lower highs. This can highlight a self-exciting behavior, where even more past successive higher lows/lower highs get broken.

Users can select the minimum sequence length of successive higher lows/lower highs required for a PMG to be detected, as well the amount of these successive higher lows/lower highs that must be broken.

Completely autonomous, it is dedicated to intraday trading. Place it on an XAUUSD chart (10 minute time frames) and let it trade for you. It is an intraday, it carries out on average 10 to 20 transactions per month. The robot executes 1 or 2 transactions (A and B) depending on the market configuration and its analysis. Once mitigation of an FVG occurs, we detect the zone as an \"Inverted FVG\". This would now be looked upon for potential support or resistance.
