The basis of this indicator is the Volatility method described in Wilders book from 1975 \"New Concepts in Technical Trading Systems\".

I have used this on Crypto and Stocks and Forex. The ACC (Acceleration Factor) is setup to run on Crypto (BTC,ETH) M1, but it also works on all other timeframes. It works well on Forex as well as Stocks. Ideally you want to trade when the volatility is higher as to avoid side ways trading. So you want to look at other indicators to provide you a good idea of when it is worthwhile to trade.

My main motivation for improving the existing indicator by Wilders was that while it serves as a good entry point to trades its exit of the trades is usually way too relaxed and needs to be more precise and aggressive. This is why I have included an adaptive Stop-Loss that tightens aggressively once the Risk-Reward ratio breaches 1.0 up to a user set max RR. This is what we want to be doing if we are trading manually once your RR has exceeded 1:1. While the original Wilder algorithm leaves the ACC factor constant we are instead reducing the ACC factor using a smooth function to start increasingly tighten the StopLoss towards our set max RR.

How It Works

My indicator operates using MT5’s draw_candle feature. Specifically, it only displays candles up to the selected backtesting point, while future candles are hidden by coloring them the same as the background. Users can then reveal candles one by one using the provided buttons. This approach allows me to conduct manual backtesting more accurately.

Key Features

Jump to any point in time for backtesting: The indicator provides a vertical bar that you can drag to any position. Then, simply click the \"Set History\" button to start testing.
Multi-timeframe backtesting: When you set the history on the 1D chart, all other timeframes will automatically sync accordingly.
Save your testing position: If you close MT5 and reopen it the next day, the indicator will retain the last tested position so you can continue where you left off.
Log the backtesting process (this feature is currently in development).

Important Notes Before Purchasing

You cannot use MT’s built-in backtest tool to test this indicator. If you're interested, feel free to message me—I can provide a demo version with a time limit.
This tool is designed for manual strategy testing and does not replace MT’s automated backtest tool.

The basics

The Supertrend is a trend-following indicator. It is overlaid on the main chart and their plots indicate the current trend. A Supertrend can be used with varying periods (daily, weekly, intraday etc.) and on varying instruments (stocks, futures or forex).

The Supertrend has several inputs that you can adjust to match your trading strategy. Adjusting these settings allows you to make the indicator more or less sensitive to price changes.

For the Supertrend inputs, you can adjust atrLength and multiplier:

the atrLength setting is the lookback length for the ATR calculation;
multiplier is what the ATR is multiplied by to offset the bands from price.

What to look for

When the price falls below the indicator curve, it turns red and indicates a downtrend. Conversely, when the price rises above the curve, the indicator turns green and indicates an uptrend. After each close above or below Supertrend, a new trend appears.

We are under the effect of the uptrend in cases where the Moving Average is above PMax; conversely under the influence of a downward trend, when the Moving Average is below PMax.
