The Australian Industry Group (AIG) Services Index is calculated based on the monthly survey of Australian service sector companies.
Representatives of these companies rate major parameters of their business, such as sales, new orders, supplies and stocks. Participants evaluate whether these figures have increased, decreased or have not changed in the reported month. Each of the values used for the index calculation is given a certain weight.
The index value above 50 indicates the industry growth, and below 50 is an indication of slowdown.
