Trading Strategies

Trend Strategy
The trend strategy is focused on medium- to long-term directional movements and operates primarily on higher timeframes.
The entry logic is based on a combination of moving averages, candlestick confirmation, and a trend filter that limits entries against the dominant market direction.

As part of the decision process, trade direction is filtered according to swap conditions, and the system opens trades exclusively in the direction of a long-term favorable (positive) swap.
The strategy is primarily applied to selected currency pairs, typically USDJPY and EURJPY, where it operates with long positions only, reflecting the structural characteristics of these instruments.

Position management is based on a higher risk–reward ratio (RRR) and a longer holding horizon.
The strategy uses progressive position closing, where two partial exits are executed before reaching the final take-profit. This enables gradual profit realization, reduced exposure, and leaving a portion of the position open to benefit from continued trend movement.
Longer holding periods also allow systematic accumulation of positive swap, which is not the primary profit source but acts as a supportive factor for overall strategy efficiency during extended trend phases.

Breakout Strategy
The breakout strategy operates on lower timeframes and is focused on instruments with higher volatility, typically DAX and XAUUSD.
Entries are based on identifying consolidation phases followed by price breakouts, while evaluating candle structure and price range in order to reduce false breakouts.

The strategy can open positions in both directions (long and short) depending on market development.
Compared to the trend strategy, it operates with a lower risk–reward ratio (RRR) and trades are held for a shorter duration.

The system uses a single partial close, which serves for partial profit realization and exposure reduction. The remaining position is then managed using predefined exit rules.

These strategies differ in timing, directional behavior, and position management, which contributes to their complementarity at the portfolio level.

System Robustness

The robustness of Forex Atlas is derived from a combination of structural elements.
The system combines trading strategies with different sources of returns, reducing portfolio dependence on a single market regime.
The use of netting mode naturally limits exposure and prevents overlapping opposing positions.
Profits are realized progressively through partial exits, reducing equity curve volatility and dependence on precise final target execution.

Trading Time and Operational Conditions

Forex Atlas operates only within predefined trading time windows and is not active throughout the entire trading day.

Each strategy has its own trading sessions:

Trend Strategy:

Session 1: 01:15 – 22:00
Session 2: 01:15 – 22:00

Breakout Strategy:

All times are based on the platform’s Local Time and can be fully configured in the EA settings.
Separate time windows allow optimization of each strategy according to the characteristics of the instrument and market.

Economic Calendar

The EA includes an integrated macroeconomic event filter that allows:

suspending trading before events,
suspending trading after events,
separate filtering of events by importance (High / Medium / Low).

The use of the calendar is optional and can be enabled or disabled at any time.
All historical backtests and analytical results presented were performed with the economic calendar disabled.

Stop System (Protective Mechanism)

The EA includes a Stop System, an operational protection mechanism at the individual instrument level.

Function: after a predefined number of consecutive losses on a given instrument, trading on that instrument is automatically suspended.

The Stop System can be configured separately for each instrument.

This mechanism serves as a safety safeguard in situations where market conditions change significantly and further analysis or parameter adjustment is required.

Risk Management, Capital Limits, and Equity Targets

Risk management in Forex Atlas is based on a percentage risk relative to current account equity.
Risk size is fully configurable, and the system automatically adjusts position size according to the selected risk level.

The EA allows separate risk settings for individual trading strategies (trend and breakout), reflecting their different trading frequency and behavior. For example, the breakout strategy typically generates a higher number of trades than the trend component.

Additional optional capital protection rules include:

a maximum daily loss limit, after which trading is automatically suspended,
an Equity Goal, which allows trading to stop once a predefined equity level is reached.

These features are primarily intended for environments with strict risk limits, such as proprietary trading, but their use is fully optional.

Operational Characteristics

The EA operates in netting mode (one resulting position per instrument).
The system is designed for medium trading frequency.
It is not a scalping or high-frequency strategy.

Recommended Capital and Leverage

The recommended initial capital for portfolio deployment is approximately 10,000 USD with 1:30 leverage.
Capital sizing should take into account that both strategies use partial position closing. Adequate capital is therefore important not only from a margin perspective, but also for meaningful position management and gradual exposure reduction during trades.

When using higher leverage or trading a reduced number of instruments, the required capital may be lower, depending on the selected risk settings and overall portfolio exposure.

Intended Use

Forex Atlas is designed as a systematic trading system for long-term use and is not intended for short-term speculative or high-frequency trading.
System results may vary depending on:

the broker used,
spread types,
swap conditions of individual instruments,
execution quality and parameter settings.

The EA is intended for users who understand systematic, long-term trading principles and manage risk at the portfolio level.

System Settings

Forex Atlas includes an extensive set of configurable parameters allowing users to adapt system behavior to individual requirements.
Settings are structured by individual trading strategies and functional system components, clearly separating trend strategy management, breakout strategy management, and global portfolio rules.

The default (factory) settings visible after EA deployment correspond to the settings used in historical backtests and analytical outputs:

the trend strategy uses identical parameters for USDJPY and EURJPY,
the breakout strategy uses identical parameters for DAX and XAUUSD.

For basic use, extensive parameter modification is not required. Users should primarily:

enable or disable the appropriate strategy for a given instrument,
verify and adjust Max Spread according to broker conditions,
set the desired Risk % per trade according to their money management preferences.

All other parameters are designed as advanced and optional and can be gradually adjusted based on user experience, account type, or market environment.

MiniBull Logical is a multi-timeframe signal indicator for MT5 based on three confluent conditions: monthly and weekly trend direction, D1 false breakout detection, and multi-timeframe moving average reversal confirmation.

How the Signals Work

The indicator tracks two lines in the subwindow — the Signal line and the Trigger line. Important Usage Rules

▪︎ Bid and Ask price lines must not use the same colors as the EA trendlines.

▪︎ The chart must contain only the three required trendlines: yellow (entry), red (stop loss), and green (take profit).

▪︎Additional trendlines or chart objects with other colors are allowed and ignored.

▪︎ Any extra trendlines or objects using yellow, red, or green colors will prevent the EA from operating to avoid signal conflicts.

▪︎ Ensure that Entry, Stop Loss, and Take Profit trendlines are placed correctly before price touches the entry line.

▪︎ If the stop loss or take profit trendline is missing or incorrectly placed, a trade may open and close immediately.

▪︎ Deleting the take profit trendline after a trade is opened will also close the position immediately.

▪︎ After a trade is completed, all existing trendlines must be deleted before drawing new ones for the next trade.

▪︎ Pip calculation may vary between brokers. Always verify your broker’s pip definition to ensure accurate risk management.

▪︎ All trendlines should be locked after drawing. Double-click each trendline to fix it on the chart and prevent accidental movement.
