What is Candle Breakout?

Candle Breakout is an Expert Advisor based on the candle range breakout strategy. It gives you the tools to build your own strategy — you decide what candle size you're interested in, which trend filters to enable, how to manage your position and what risk you accept.

You build the strategy, the EA executes it.

Choose your candle size — set minimum and maximum range in pips tailored to your instrument and timeframe
Select trend filters — one MA, two MAs, ADX, HTF or any combination
Set up position management — SL in pips, ATR or on candle, fixed or dynamic TP, Break-Even, Trailing Stop
Control your risk — fixed lot, account percentage, daily limits, max positions

Every parameter can be set manually or left at 0 = auto — the EA will then use values from built-in presets for the given instrument.

How does the EA open positions?

The EA monitors the range of selected previous candles (default 1 candle = classic breakout). It defines a breakout zonebased on the highest High and lowest Low (from wick to wick):

BUY — when price breaks above the High of the breakout zone
SELL — when price breaks below the Low of the breakout zone

Every entry must pass through a chain of filters before being approved:

1. Trend Filter — Dual Moving Average

Fast MA (e.g. SMA 50) + Slow MA (e.g. SMA 200)
Requires N consecutive closed candles above/below BOTH averages (configurable parameter)
BUY only when confirmed N candles closed above both MAs
SELL only when confirmed N candles closed below both MAs
Single MA mode — uses only one average (disable Slow MA by setting -1)

2. Higher Timeframe Filter (HTF)

Checks trend direction on a higher timeframe (e.g. D1 or W1)
Blocks BUY entries when HTF is bearish and vice versa
Automatic HTF selection based on the current timeframe

3. Trend Strength Filter — ADX

Measures trend strength using the ADX indicator
Blocks trading when ADX is below threshold (default 20) — sideways market, false breakouts
Configurable period and minimum ADX level

4. MA Distance Filter

Checks the distance between Fast and Slow MA in ATR units
When averages are too close together — market is in consolidation, breakouts fail
Requires Dual MA (both averages active)

5. Candle Range Filter

Rejects candles that are too small (no momentum) or too large (move already happened)
Auto (0) — the EA calculates min/max range based on instrument and timeframe (e.g. USDJPY M30 has different thresholds than GOLD H4)
Manual — you set minimum and maximum candle range in pips, tailored to your TF and trading style
Example: on M5 you might set 3-15 pips, on H4 it could be 20-200 pips
Lookback candles — choose how many candles back to build the breakout zone (1 = previous candle, 3 = range from 3 candles)

6. Spread Filter

Blocks trading when spread exceeds the allowed maximum
Auto (0) — spread limit selected automatically from instrument preset, scaled with timeframe
Manual — you set max spread in pips (e.g. 2.0 = max 2 pips)
When spread exceeds the limit — the EA waits for it to drop before opening a position

Each filter can be enabled or disabled independently. A position opens only when ALL enabled filters give the green light.

Stop Loss System — 3 Modes

Choose the SL method that fits your strategy:

Mode 1: ATR-based SL (default)

SL = ATR multiplier (e.g. 1.5x ATR)
Automatically adapts to current volatility
Scaled by Adaptive Volatility (comparison of current ATR to 20-period average)

Mode 2: Manual SL (fixed pips)

SL = exact distance in pips (e.g. 30 pips)
Fixed value regardless of volatility

Mode 3: Candle SL (SL at candle Low/High)

BUY: SL below the breakout candle Low + buffer in pips
SELL: SL above the breakout candle High + buffer in pips
SL based on actual candle range — adjusted to the current price movement

Adapts to volatility — higher ATR = wider TP

TP = exact distance in pips (e.g. 80 pips)

Break-Even — Securing Your Position

When a position reaches a specified profit, the SL moves to entry level (or locks a small profit):

BE Start — distance in ATR when BE activates (e.g. 1.0x ATR)
BE Lock Profit — how much profit to secure above entry price (e.g. 0.05x ATR ≈ breakeven, 0.3x ATR = small profit)
Automatic values from presets or full manual control

Trailing Stop — Following the Price

After reaching the required profit, the SL follows price in the profit direction:

Trail Start — minimum profit in ATR before trailing activates (e.g. 2.0x ATR)
Trail Step — SL distance from current price (e.g. 1.0x ATR behind price)
Trailing + BE can work together: first BE secures entry, then Trailing takes over and moves SL further into profit

Example: you open a BUY at 1.1000 with SL at 1.0980 (20 pips). You set breakeven trigger to 15 pips. When price reaches 1.1015, your SL automatically moves to 1.1000. Your trade is now risk-free.

▸ TRAILING STOP A trailing stop follows the price as it moves in your favor, locking in profit automatically.

What is the NY Killzone?

The New York Killzone (15:00–16:30 broker time, UTC+2) is the overlap period between the London and New York sessions — historically the highest-volume window of the entire trading day. Smart money institutions use this window to accumulate positions, trigger liquidity sweeps, and set the directional bias for the rest of the session. How it works

1 Killzone scanning (15:00–16:30): The EA monitors every bar within the killzone window and records the session's structural high and low with precision.

2 Level locking: Once the killzone closes, the high and low are locked as key breakout levels for the rest of the day.

3 Breakout execution (16:30–20:00): During the trade window, the EA either places buy/sell stop orders at the breakout levels (standard mode) or waits for candle-close confirmation (filter mode).

Volume spike filter

Liquidity sweep filter

Checks that price swept the opposite side of the killzone before breaking out — a classic smart money pattern indicating a stop hunt before the real move.

ATR expansion filter

Compares the current bar's ATR(1) against the 14-period ATR average. Only trades when volatility is expanding — filtering out low-momentum consolidation breaks.

No-wick filter

Traditional indicators react to price changes — they show that price has moved. Volume Delta goes deeper: it reveals whether a move is driven by real demand or simply by the absence of sellers. --- Architecture — 6 Modules ---

Six independent modules run simultaneously, each with its own logic, magic number and risk management:

Long Modules:

- Cobra (M20) — The backbone of the system. Identifies medium-term opportunities and balances trade frequency with signal quality. First module to activate in Full Auto.

- Anaconda (H4) — The long-term module. Waits for major trend confirmations and targets larger moves. Features a fast H1 delta exit for quicker reaction to trend reversals.

- Viper (M5) — The fastest scalper. Detects short-term momentum bursts using the Three Soldiers pattern with Delta Acceleration. Protected by the News Filter during high-impact USD events.

- Mamba (H1) — The trend filler. Captures longer trending moves on the hourly chart. Runs at reduced lot size in Full Auto to balance its higher trade frequency.

Short Modules (Experimental):

- Taipan — Detects trend exhaustion via delta divergence: price makes a higher high but delta weakens. Opens the initial short position when the divergence is confirmed.

- Sidewinder — Active during established downtrends. Waits for pullbacks (delta goes briefly positive) then re-enters short when delta flips back negative. Multiple entries per downtrend possible.

When one module is in drawdown, the others can be profitable at the same time. This diversification across time horizons is the core principle of the architecture.

--- Full Auto Mode with Lot Scaling ---

For beginners: simply choose Full Auto Low, Mid or High. The EA decides which modules to activate based on your account balance. Each module receives a weighted lot size based on its performance:

- Cobra: Always active (100% lot)

- Anaconda: From $750 - $1,500 (75% lot)

- Viper: From $1,500 - $3,000 (60% lot)

- Mamba: From $3,000 - $5,000 (30% lot)

Stronger modules get more lot, weaker modules less — overall risk stays balanced as the account grows.

--- ATR Shield ---

Gold alternates between calm periods and explosive moves. The built-in ATR Shield detects extreme volatility automatically and pauses new entries until the market calms down. You can set the ATR threshold yourself (default: 60). In adaptive mode, it compares current volatility to its historical average — it only blocks during genuine spikes, not during generally elevated markets. Existing positions continue to be fully managed.

--- Weekend and Holiday Protection ---

The EA automatically reads your broker's session times and detects whether the next day has a trading session. If not — whether it's a regular weekend or a holiday — it closes all open positions before the current session ends. Protects against gap risk on market open. Options: Off / 5 min / 30 min / 1 hour before session close.

--- Delta-Based Exits ---

Each module monitors Volume Delta in real time, even after entry. If the delta reverses — meaning sellers suddenly become more aggressive — the module can close the trade early, before the stop loss is hit. This early warning system actively protects capital instead of passively waiting for the SL. Anaconda uses a faster H1 timeframe for exit checks instead of H4, reacting 4x faster to trend breaks.

--- Cooldown System ---

Optional: After closing a trade, each module waits for the next candle on its own timeframe before opening a new trade. This ensures every module works with fresh data and avoids immediate re-entries on the same candle. Anaconda always waits for the next H4 candle — regardless of this setting.

--- Risk Management ---

Three automatic risk levels (Low / Mid / High) adjust lot size to your account balance. In Custom mode, you have full control over every parameter. Additional safety features:

- Max lot size limit (also limits total position size in netting mode)

- Daily loss limit with automatic trading pause

- Optional break-even protection (10% / 30% / 50%)

--- News Filter ---

Bandit Decision Layer
For each context, the bandit estimates the value of several actions:

The UCB mechanism balances two things:

exploitation: repeat actions that historically performed well in similar contexts
exploration: still test less-used actions when confidence is low

This means the EA does not blindly execute every detected setup. It can:

Over time, the model becomes more selective and context-aware.

Learning Process
When a position closes, the EA computes a normalized reward from the result. That reward is not based only on raw profit. It also considers:

The reward is then written back into the UCB memory for the specific context and chosen arm. This updates:

on initialization, the EA reloads that state automatically
if no learned state exists, UseUcbWarmupFromHistory seeds the model from historical closed trades
UseUcbJsonSnapshot produces a readable JSON snapshot of the learned state for inspection and diagnostics

This gives the EA both continuity and recoverability. It does not need to relearn from zero every time it is restarted.

Fixed TP/SL fails because the market changes every day. This indicator calculates TP and SL fresh on every signal based on:

Which MA was touched — Short MA means tight, long MA means wide

Quality score — Better score gets wider TP

Current volatility — Expands in trends, contracts in ranges

Signal streak — Reduces TP on repeated same-direction entries

◆ First Touch Filter — Integrated into Filter Levels

Ranging markets produce garbage signals. The same MA gets touched over and over and each touch is weaker than the last.

The First Touch Filter solves this. On M5, each MA can only trigger once per lookback window. Second and third touches are blocked. When the window expires, the counter resets.

In strong trends with perfect MA order, short-term MAs stay unrestricted so you catch every valid pullback. Deep MAs always require first touch because deep pullbacks should be precision entries.

Now integrated into the Filter Level system. SAFE mode enables First Touch Filter. STANDARD and ACTIVE modes disable it. M15 is not affected.

4. Red down arrow indicates a false upward breakout - potential sell signal

5. Horizontal lines show false breakout levels

Trading Strategy:
