S&P/Case-Shiller HPI Composite-20 y/y reflects changes in value of the residential housing market in 20 regions across the US in the given month compared to the same month of the previous year.

The calculation involves the method of weighted repeated sales offered by Karl Case, Robert Shiller and Allan Weiss. Newly built property is excluded from the calculation since it is impossible to define the price change for it before a resale.

The index is used to assess the state of the real estate market. Index growth may have a positive effect on dollar quotes.
