ISM Non-Manufacturing New Orders Index is one of the elements included in the calculation of the service sector PMI (Purchasing Managers Index). The index is calculated monthly according to the survey of purchasing managers in companies from 16 industries of the US service sector. Respondents estimate whether the number of new orders in their company is increasing, decreasing or remains at the same level.
Readings above 50 indicate the service industry growth.
