US U6 Unemployment Rate provides an alternative US unemployment calculation method. The index includes:
- the official unemployment rate, i.e. individuals that have been actively looking for a job during the past four weeks,
- the number of individuals who have given up looking for a job, thinking employment impossible under current economic conditions,
- "marginally attached", who can find a job, but are not looking for a job now,
- underemployed people, who would prefer to have full-time jobs but only have part-time jobs due to conditions of the economy.
The U6 indicator reflects the US unemployment situation.
