Amgen Inc. is an American multinational biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Thousand Oaks, California. The company is ranked 18th on the list of largest biomedical companies by revenue. The name "AMGen" is a portmanteau of the company's original name, Applied Molecular Genetics. The company's major products are Prolia and XGEVA for treatment of osteoporosis and bone diseases, Enbrel for treatment of autoimmune diseases, Repatha for treatment of hyperlipidemia, Otezla for treatment of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, Tepezza to treat Graves' ophthalmopathy, Evenity to treat osteoporosis, Kyprolis to treat cancer, Nplate to regulate platelet production, and Aranesp to stimulate erythropoiesis.
